Your website already works at its free address. If you own a domain, you can use it instead. You keep ownership of the domain. If you don't have one yet, you can buy one from any domain company (a registrar).
Add your domain
- Go to Website and open the Domain tab.
- Under Your domain, type your domain, like harborplumbing.com.
- Press Connect domain.
Only the account owner can connect or remove a domain.
Add two records where you bought it
Zome shows two records to add at your registrar:
| Type | Name | Value |
|---|---|---|
| A | @ | Copy it from the Domain tab |
| CNAME | www | Copy it from the Domain tab |
Each value has a copy button. Not sure where to put them? Open Where do I add these? Step by step for GoDaddy, Namecheap and others on the same tab. It shows the exact menus for GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, Squarespace Domains, Wix, Network Solutions, IONOS, Bluehost, Name.com, Porkbun, Hover and Amazon Route 53.
Not sure where you bought your domain? Search your email for the yearly renewal receipt.
Check that it works
Changes usually show up within an hour. Press Check DNS. When it works, the badge changes from Waiting for DNS to Connected. HTTPS is set up for you.
If the domain was used with Zome before
If the domain was connected to a Zome site before, Zome asks for a third record, a TXT record, to prove it's yours now. Add it with the other two, then press Check DNS.
If another Zome account has your domain connected, Zome shows a TXT record for you to add. Add it where you manage the domain, wait a few minutes, then press It's mine, check the record.
