Once your website is live and your Google listing is linked in Google and listings, Zome checks where you show up on Google every week.
The searches
Up to six, the way customers type them:
- your trade in your home town, like "Plumber in Portland, OR"
- your first two services in your home town, like "Drain cleaning in Portland, OR"
- your trade in the next two towns you serve
The services and towns come from Website, in the order you listed them. Change the order there and the next week's check follows it.
What you see
- Home: Where you show up on Google, with this week's position for each search and the change since last week.
- Insights: the same searches with your best position in the last 12 weeks, and the businesses just above you.
- Your monthly report lists your top three searches.
A position is your place in Google's top 20 for that search. Not in top 20 means Google listed you lower, or not at all.
How it's measured
Zome uses Google's own search with the town in the words, not a location. A customer searching nearby on their phone may see a slightly different order, since Google also weighs where they are. The names of other businesses are kept for 30 days, as Google's terms ask. Your positions are kept so you can see the trend.
What moves you up
Reviews, a complete Google profile that matches your website, a page for each service and town, and recent jobs on your site. Rank on Google on Home lists what's left to do.
