When your domain moves to Zome, links to your old pages, like /water-heater-repair.html, would lead nowhere. A redirect sends each old address to its new page. Visitors land in the right place, and what the old page ranked for can carry over.
Go to Website, open the Domain tab, and scroll to Your old website's addresses.
Addresses from your old site
If Zome brought in your old website, it may already have added redirects for your old pages. They're marked From your old site. The Used column shows how many times each one has sent someone on.
Add a redirect
- In Old address, type the old page's address, like /water-heater-repair.html. You can paste a full link. Zome keeps only the part after the domain.
- In Send it to, pick the new page: Home page, Book online, a service, a town, the about, reviews or FAQ part of your home page, or Privacy.
- Press Add.
To change where an address goes, add it again with the new page. To remove one, press the x next to it. A site can have up to 500 redirects.
Pages people asked for that don't exist
Once your website is published, Zome notices visits to addresses that don't exist on it. They show under Pages people asked for that don't exist, with how many visits each had.
- Pick a page and press Send there to add a redirect.
- Press Ignore for typos and junk.
