The AI receptionist works with your Zome number. It's off until you turn it on.
Turn it on
- Go to Follow-ups and scroll to Automations.
- Find AI receptionist, switch it on, and press Save.
- Optional: in What it can tell callers, add facts you want it to repeat, like your trip fee or work you don't do.
If you don't see the AI receptionist card, it isn't switched on for your account yet. Ask the Zome team.
What it does on a call
- Answers when nobody picks up, and says it's an automated assistant.
- Asks one thing at a time: the caller's name, what they need, the address or town, and when suits them.
- Can offer your next open visit windows and request one for the caller. You confirm it, just like an online booking.
- Fills in the request in Inbox as the call goes. If the caller hangs up, everything they said is kept.
- Sends you the message as an alert.
It only repeats what you've told Zome: your services, towns, hours, the prices on your website and your notes. The caller still gets your missed-call text, if that's on.
What it won't do
- Say a visit is booked or confirmed, promise an arrival time, or say how soon you'll call.
- Quote a price you haven't listed.
- Diagnose a problem or give repair steps.
- Claim to be a person.
If a caller mentions a smell of gas, fire, smoke, carbon monoxide or someone hurt, it tells them to get to safety and call 911 first, and marks the request urgent.
Read the call
Open the request in Inbox. The call shows the details it took and what was said. It's written from speech, so check names and addresses when you call back. On the Calls tab, these calls show as Assistant took a message.
Minutes
Your plan sets how many AI receptionist minutes you get each month. When they're used up, missed calls get your missed-call text instead until the 1st. See Your plan, usage and monthly limits.
