When you send an invoice, the customer gets a link to a page with the lines, the total, the due date and How to pay. Press Customer view on an invoice to see it as they do.
What the page shows
- A heading such as "(amount) due now" or "(amount) due (day)". After payment it says Paid, thank you. A voided invoice says it was canceled and there is nothing to pay.
- How to pay: the text you wrote in Settings under Getting paid. If you left it empty, the page says to pay the way you agreed.
- A Call button with your number.
- Print or save as PDF.
Pay by card
When card payments are connected, a Pay (amount) by card button appears. It opens Stripe's secure checkout and you get the payment directly. The invoice marks itself paid and the customer gets a receipt. This is available once you connect Stripe and turn on card payments. See How do I take card payments?.
Until then, there is no card button. The page shows How to pay, and you press Record payment on the invoice when the money arrives. See Invoices, payments and reminders.
Card payments only appear on invoices of at least 50 cents.
If the card option isn't working
If Stripe can't be reached, the customer sees "Card payment isn't available right now. Please try again in a minute, or pay another way below." and your other payment instructions.
Late invoices
If the invoice is past due, the page says when it was due and adds "If you've already paid, thank you, and please ignore this."
