You search for your business and see yourself first. Zome says something else. Both can be right.
Why results differ
- Where you are. Google weighs the searcher's location. A customer searching on their phone near you may see a different order from someone across town.
- Who is searching. Google can tailor results to the searcher, so what you see on your own phone can differ from what a stranger sees.
- The words. Zome uses the search the way a customer would type it with the town in the words, such as "Plumber in Portland, OR". A different phrase gives a different list.
- When. Results move daily. Zome checks weekly.
What Zome shows
Where you show up on Google on Home and Insights is your place in Google's top 20 for up to six searches, with the change from last week. Not in top 20 means Google listed you lower, or not at all. The footnote on Home says when it was checked and reminds you that a customer searching nearby may see a slightly different order.
How to use it
Watch the trend over several weeks. Don't chase one day's number. Nobody, including Zome, can promise a position. Work on what helps: see How does local ranking on Google work?.
