When someone searches for "plumber near me", Google shows a map with a few businesses, then regular website results. Google says local results are based mainly on three things.
- Relevance: how well your profile and website match what was searched.
- Distance: how far you are from the searcher or the place they typed. You can't change this.
- Prominence: how well known you are, including your reviews and what the web says about you.
What nobody can promise
Google says there is no way to pay for a better position in the unpaid local results. Zome can't promise a position or a date, and nor can anyone else. Ads are separate and labeled as ads.
What you can do
These are within your control, and Zome helps with each:
- Keep your name, address and phone exactly the same on your website, Google profile and directories. See How do I make my details match everywhere?.
- Give each service and each town you really serve its own page. See Services, prices and the towns you serve.
- Ask every customer for a review, the same way. See Review requests and private ratings.
- Show real recent jobs on your site. See How do real jobs help my service and town pages?.
- Work through the profile checklist.
How you can see progress
Zome checks your place in Google Maps results each week once your website is live and your listing is linked. See Where you show up on Google. Positions move for reasons outside your control, so watch the trend over weeks, not a single day.
