The badge at the top of your domain's card tells you where it is. The sentence under it says what is true right now and what to do next.
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Live | Your website opens at your domain, secured with HTTPS. | Nothing. Press Check again any time. |
| Checking certificate | Your domain is connected and its HTTPS certificate is being set up. This is shown for the first few minutes after it goes live. | Wait a few minutes and refresh. |
| Waiting for DNS | Zome can't see your records yet, or the TXT record that proves the domain is yours isn't showing. | Add or fix the records, then press Check now. |
| DNS ready | Your records point at Zome and the domain is set up on Zome's side. | Press Check now to finish. |
| Zome is connecting your domain | Zome is still setting up your domain on its side. | Leave your records as they are. Your current website keeps working. |
| Needs attention | Your domain points somewhere else, the records are not showing after more than a day, or the domain needs one more verification record. | Read the sentence on the tab and follow it, or ask the Zome team. |
Zome is connecting your domain
This status means the Zome team connects the domain for you. You'll see a request called "Connecting" in Ask the Zome team, and an entry in your activity. Your website stays at its free Zome address meanwhile. We don't give a time.
Needs attention
It can mean:
- Your domain currently points somewhere else. Change the A record for @ and the CNAME for www to the values on the tab. Remove an old A record first if the registrar keeps both.
- The records still aren't showing after more than a day. Check that both are saved exactly as shown, then ask the Zome team.
- The domain is also set up on another hosting account and needs one more verification record. The Zome team writes to you in Ask the Zome team with the record to add.
