This works for a website on Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, GoDaddy or anywhere else. The order matters: keep your old site up until the new one is ready.
1. Bring in what you have
Use Bring in my website on the Design and content tab. See How do I bring in my current website?.
2. Make the new site right
Open the editor and fix your details, services, prices, towns and photos. Preview it on Mobile. Publish it when you're happy. It works at its free Zome address straight away.
3. Keep your old page addresses working
On the Domain tab, under Your old website's addresses, list each old address and the new page it should go to. Visitors and Google then land on the right page instead of an error. See Keep your old website's addresses working.
4. Connect your domain
Add your domain on the Domain tab and add the records at your registrar. See Connect your own domain. The moment it's connected, your domain shows the Zome site.
5. Tidy up
- Check the site and your old addresses on your own phone.
- Update your Google profile's website link if it changes.
- Keep your domain renewing at its registrar. Moving the website doesn't move the domain.
- Cancel the old builder only when you're sure everything has moved.
Need a hand? Ask the Zome team. Moving your site, domain and details is part of onboarding.
