After you press Connect domain, the Domain tab lists the records to add where you manage your domain's DNS. DNS is the list of instructions that tells the internet where your domain lives.
The records
| Type | Name | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| A | @ | Points your main address (harborplumbing.com) at Zome |
| CNAME | www | Points www.harborplumbing.com at Zome |
| TXT | _zome | Only shown when Zome needs proof the domain is yours |
Copy the value for each from the Domain tab. Each value has a copy button. The values can change, so copy them from the tab rather than from an old note.
Rules of thumb
- @ means the main domain with nothing in front. Some registrars want it left blank instead.
- Leave TTL at its default.
- If your registrar already has an A record for @ or a CNAME for www, change it instead of adding a second.
- On Cloudflare, set each record to DNS only (the grey cloud), not proxied.
When the TXT record shows
The domain was used with Zome before, or it's connected to another Zome account. The TXT record proves you control it. See My domain is connected to another Zome account.
Then check it
Press Check now. If it says Waiting for DNS, read Why does my domain say Waiting for DNS?.
