Waiting for DNS means Zome hasn't yet seen your domain pointing at it. Changes usually show up within an hour, though they can take longer.
What to do
- Press Check now on the Domain tab. Last checked shows when Zome last looked.
- If it still says Waiting for DNS, wait a few minutes and press it again.
- When it works you'll see "Your domain is connected" and the badge changes to Live.
If it won't connect
Check each of these at your registrar:
- The A record for @ and the CNAME for www match what the Domain tab shows, with no extra characters or spaces.
- There isn't a second, older A record for @ or CNAME for www still in place. Remove the old one.
- On Cloudflare, each record is set to DNS only (the grey cloud), not proxied.
- On Wix, remove Wix's own A record for the main domain first.
- You added the records for the right domain, in the right account.
- If the tab shows a TXT record, you added it too. If the TXT record isn't showing yet, you'll see "The TXT record isn't showing yet. It can take up to an hour".
Pressing Check now when records are still missing shows "Zome cannot see the records yet. Changes can take up to an hour; nothing has changed on your site".
Zome can't attach the domain
If a problem on our side stops the domain from attaching, you'll see a message that the Zome team has been told and will let you know. Your site stays on its free Zome address until then.
Still stuck
Ask in Ask the Zome team and say which registrar you use.
