A domain is your website's address, like harborplumbing.com. You don't need one to go live.
Your free address
Your website always works at its free Zome address. You'll find it on the Domain tab under Your free address. It keeps working even after you connect your own domain.
Why get your own
- It's shorter and easier to say, print and remember.
- It's yours. You keep ownership of it at your registrar, and you can point it somewhere else any time.
- Customers trust an address that matches your business name.
Getting one
A registrar sells domains (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace Domains, Cloudflare and others). A domain typically costs around $12 a year, but prices vary and renewals can cost more, so read the price before you buy.
Buy it in your own name and with your own email, so you can always prove it's yours.
HTTPS
Once your domain is connected, HTTPS (the padlock) is set up for you. There is nothing to buy or install.
Next step
Follow Connect your own domain. Only the account owner can connect or remove a domain.
