A website can be reached at two addresses: the bare domain (harborplumbing.com) and the www version (www.harborplumbing.com). Zome sets up both when you connect your domain.
What visitors see
- Your bare domain is the main address.
- www is set up to send visitors to the bare domain, so everyone lands in one place.
What you type in Zome
Type the domain the way you say it, like harborplumbing.com. If you paste www.harborplumbing.com or a full link, Zome keeps just the domain.
Why there are two records
The A record for @ handles the bare domain. The CNAME record for www handles the www version. If you add only one, the other address won't work. See DNS in plain words: A, CNAME, TXT and MX.
Show one address everywhere
Use the bare domain on your trucks, cards, social pages and Google profile, so customers and Google see one address.
