After you save your records, the change has to reach computers around the world. Each one remembers the old answer for a while (the TTL) before it asks again. That wait is why nothing happens at once.
What to expect
The Domain tab says changes usually show up within an hour. That is usual, not a promise. A longer wait does happen, and it doesn't always mean you did something wrong.
How to check
- Open the Domain tab on Website.
- Press Check now. Last checked shows when Zome last looked.
- Wait a few minutes and press it again. The tab says you can check a few times in a few minutes.
Why it can take longer
- The old record had a long TTL, so computers remember it for longer.
- Your own phone or computer remembers the old answer. Try another device, or turn mobile data on and Wi-Fi off.
- A second, older record is still in place. See Why does my domain say Waiting for DNS?.
After the records are right
Once Zome sees them, the status moves on. Checking certificate appears for a few minutes right after your domain goes live, while the secure HTTPS certificate is set up. A browser warning in that short window usually clears by refreshing.
When to ask for help
If the tab says Needs attention, or the records are right and nothing has changed after more than a day, ask in Ask the Zome team and say which registrar you use.
