When your page shows up in Google, it appears as a blue title, a web address and a short description. You can write the title and description yourself.
Open the settings
- For your home page: in the Sections list, under Home page in Google, press Home page settings.
- For an added page: open the page from the Editing menu and press Page settings.
Then open the SEO tab.
What you see
Search result preview shows your page as Google might. It updates as you type.
Write them
- SEO title: up to 100 characters. Google usually shows about 60.
- SEO description: up to 300 characters. Google usually shows about 160.
Plain text only. Anything in angle brackets is removed.
If you leave them empty
Zome uses a title and description it wrote from your business details. The preview shows exactly which ones.
Good habits
- Say what the page is about, in the words a customer would use.
- Include the town if the page is about a town.
- Don't promise a ranking, a price or a response time you can't keep.
What this can't do
Writing a good title doesn't guarantee a position in Google. It helps people and Google understand the page. See How does local ranking on Google work?.
Saving
Home page settings are saved to your draft as you type, and go live when you publish. For an added page, the title and description save as you type, and its address saves when you close the window.
