Not open yet: Zome is not selling or moving domains yet. This page explains how it will work, so you can decide ahead of time. Until it opens, keep your domain where it is and connect it: see Connect your own domain.
A domain registered through Zome is yours. You can take it to another company whenever you like, and it costs nothing.
Before you start
- Only the account owner can ask for the code.
- A new domain cannot be moved in its first 60 days. This is a rule for every company. After that the code works.
- A domain you only connected from another company is not held by Zome, so the code is not needed. Change the records back instead: see How do I remove or change my domain?.
Get the code
- Go to Website and open the Publish and domain tab.
- Find the domain's card under Your domains and press Move it out of Zome.
- Press Show me the code.
- Copy the code and keep it private. Anyone who has it can move your domain.
What to know about the code
- Zome shows it once, on that page. It hides again after a few minutes. If you lose it, ask again. You can ask a few times an hour.
- Zome does not keep the code, and does not put it in an email.
- Zome notes in your Activity that you asked, and emails you. If you did not ask for it, tell us at once.
At the new company
- Start a transfer there and paste the code when it asks for the authorization code.
- Approve any email the transfer sends you.
- Wait for it to finish. The new company tells you how long it takes.
After it arrives
Check the domain's records at the new company. Make sure the A record for @ and the CNAME for www point at your Zome website, and that your email records came with it, then press I’ve added them on the Publish and domain tab. See Which DNS records do I add for my domain? and Keep your email working when you move your website.
If the domain is still listed on the Publish and domain tab afterwards, remove it there. See How do I remove or change my domain?.
